Visiting: Jolene

We visited Jolene for an anniversary brunch just before the COVID-19 madness kicked off and the memory of a bustling room of happy people eating and drinking is really keeping me going. We were quick to grab a rhubarb Danish pastry and a pain-au-raisin to start, with a cappuccino and filter coffee served in lovely hand-crafted ceramic cups. The pastry was crisp and the sharp rhubarb was perfect with the sweet vanilla custard. The p-a-r was overflowing with raisins and deliciously sticky on top - marmalade? We then ordered savoury plates from the daily changing menu. The standout dish was the chickpeas with fried egg and mojo verde; perfectly spicy and juicy. We loved the communal tables, the individuality of each of the objects filling the space and the subtle and warm colours used in the interior.
